On 8 November the transport world lost Steve Bennett (72).
Steve, who was born in 1951, started his career in haulage by working as a driver for his father John Bennett, who was a coal merchant in Gloucester.
In 1978 he began working for Ralph Davies, but after a few years started his own haulage firm. From 1983 to 2009, Steve returned to work in the transport office at Ralph Davies.
The funeral procession was a fitting tribute to his time spent with the haulier, with Steve taking his final journey on this Ralph Davies 1995 Volvo FH16.
Steve’s passing triggered a flood of tributes across social media and there was a strong attendance at his funeral, including many former colleagues.
