Volvo has delivered W J & J Green’s second new vehicle of 2023, a Volvo FH16 to join the Volvo FH 540 that was delivered earlier this year. The new truck was supplied by Kevin Fraser, transport solutions executive at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North and Scotland. The vehicle will be put to work transporting livestock with a Houghton Parkhouse trailer and bulk materials with a Wilcox tipper trailer.
Iain Green, director at W J & J Green, said: “It had been a little while since we added a Volvo to the fleet, but we have always kept a firm eye on the products it brings to market. When the time came to welcome new trucks to the business, we quickly concluded that the FH and FH16 were the right choices for us in 2023, both delivering the high performance and robust reliability we need at an attractive price point.
“Kevin and his colleagues have been a pleasure to work with, going above and beyond to keep us in the loop at all stages and to make sure the final specification was ideally moulded to our needs.”
The FH16 has a Euro-6 compliant Step E D16K engine with 750hp and peak torque of 3,550Nm paired with a 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission. Its Globetrotter XL cab is fitted with the Living++ package and optional extras including leather upholstery, a fridge, a microwave and a TV. The vehicle also has full air suspension and Alcoa Dura Bright alloys.
“It has only been on the road for a short amount of time, but our driver has already noted just how comfortable the truck is. It’s a great-looking vehicle, that’s for sure, and we’re very excited to see how it performs for us going forward,” Green said.
The FH16 is expected to cover up to 160,000 annually and is supported by a Volvo Gold Contract. The vehicle will be based out of W J & J Green’s Corskie Farm, east of Inverness.
