The second generation of Apollo’s EnduRace RA tyre has been announced as the company’s latest regional truck tyre.
With a new tread design and uprated materials the tyre was created for better all-season grip, handling, lower rolling resistance and improved durability. It’s available in 315/70 size for 22.5in rims and on average it should deliver an increased mileage of 5%.
John Nikhil Joy, cluster director Europe – Truck & Bus Tyres at Apollo Tyres, said: “We launched the first generation of the EnduRace RA in 2021; since then, the tyre has grown in popularity among medium- and long-distance hauliers across Europe. Meanwhile, we have stepped up our investment in truck tyre research and development, which has been guided by direct feedback from our customers. That has enabled us to accelerate the introduction of innovations in design and materials – the result is a new RA product that stands apart in this highly competitive segment.”
The EnduRace RA 2 has a claimed 10% reduction in rolling resistance, 10% improved traction and road noise is on average 1dB lower than the previous generation of this product. The compound has been reformulated for improved abrasion resistance and a modified bead construction and internal structure means the tyre should have better protection against deformation under load. It has a load/speed index of 150/150 L.
Its new tread design has a wider contact area and invisible groove technology which uses multi-edge shoulder blocks to improve grip, traction and durability. These characteristics mean the EnduRace RA 2 is certified with the ‘three-peak mountain snowflake’ mark for operation in severe weather conditions.
The EnduRace RA 2 was developed and manufactured in Europe. This tyre technology, paired with new Euro 6 trucks can maximise efficiency and reduce overall carbon emissions and fuel consumption.
