Sykes Seafood, the 160-year old Cheshire-based frozen fish and seafood supplier, has bolstered its operations with the addition of 46 DAF trucks and six Gray & Adams fridge semi-trailers sourced from Asset Alliance Group. This strategic move comes as Sykes Seafood experiences rapid business growth and seeks to efficiently manage its expanding operations.

Its fleet now comprises 40 DAF LF 290 rigids, equipped with Gray & Adams refrigerated bodies, alongside six New Generation DAF XF 480 tractor units. Sykes Seafood has also taken delivery of four fridge trailers and two double-deck fridges. These new assets, obtained through hire purchase and contract hire agreements, join the existing fleet of 90 trucks and trailers.

They will operate from multiple locations including Sykes Seafood's 167,000 sq ft site in Warrington, its seafood processing facility in Liverpool, and its cold store and distribution hub in Manchester. With additional depots in Motherwell, Newcastle, Telford, Wakefield, and Warminster, the company will use the new vehicles to deliver to retail and food service industries across the UK.

Alan Livingston, Sykes Seafood’s, senior UK group transport manager said: "As first-time customers with Asset Alliance Group, we have been very impressed. They came up with a great financial package and exceeded our expectations with the delivery of the vehicles well ahead of market projections, given the challenges around global supply shortages."

Sykes Seafood's decision to choose DAF trucks was driven by their proven reliability and fuel economy. The Gray & Adams double-deck fridge trailers, featuring multi-temperature functionality, will enable the company to load up to 44 pallets on each vehicle, a 70% increase in capacity compared to standard trailers.

Richard Worthington, business development manager at Asset Alliance Group, commented: "We've worked hard to deliver these DAF trucks and Gray & Adams trailers to aid Sykes Seafood's fleet renewal program, and we look forward to growing this relationship in the future."
