Earl Transport has taken delivery of six new Renault T520 High 6x2 pusher axle tractor units. After a positive five years with some vehicles purchased in 2018, thepet food distribution specialist has returned to Renault to replace four 19 and two 69 plated T Highs. They will be used with one of Earl Transport’s well-known customers delivering pet food across the country to the grocery trade.
Speaking about their decision to buy the original T Highs, Peter Hughes, Earl Transport MD said: “I wanted something unique, something spacious and luxurious to celebrate our company’s 40th anniversary back in 2018 and the T High, with its top of the range spec, was just that vehicle. Since then, we haven’t looked back; we’ve had six further T Highs and now we are replacing them with the same model. Our experience of the T High has been outstanding, not only are they are very impressive looking, they’ve been trouble free too.”
The vehicles will be supplied and maintained by JDS Truck and Van, located just 15 minutes from Earl Transport, and have been specified with Alcoa Dura-Bright aluminium wheels, fixed roof deflector and side deflectors as well as a 5-year Optivision subscription. They also have a fridge, microwave, multimedia touchscreen, “ultimate” upper bunk and “comfort” air conditioning.
“I like to look after my drivers, they are the beating heart of the business. The vehicles are tramping, and the drivers are out most nights of the week. The cabs have been much improved, and I like to think if I was a driver that’s what I’d want in a truck, so I fit them out with extras like microwaves and fridges. Consequently, driver acceptability of the T High is exceptional; they think they are great trucks,” Hughes added.
The new T Highs join Earl Transport’s 22-strong mixed fleet on a Renault Trucks Financial Services operating lease and full Renault Trucks’ repair and maintenance contract and are said to be achieving as much as 10mpg.
