The Iveco Group and Hyundai Motor Company have signed a letter of intent to partner on alternative fuel technology for trucks. The partnership will focus on heavy-duty electric trucks and fuel cell electric vehicles for Europe. Together, the two companies hope to build on their existing experience and use advanced technologies to move towards sustainable solutions.

The companies first announced a partnership in March 2022. Since then, several milestones have been achieved in their journey towards offering customers alternatively fuelled vehicles. September 2022 saw the Iveco eDaily fuel cell electric vehicle revealed at the IAA Transportation event in Hanover. The following year, in October the Iveco Bus E-Way H2 was unveiled to the public for the first time at Busworld in Brussels. In February 2024, an agreement was announced for Hyundai to supply its eLCV platform for a new Iveco electric light commercial vehicle.

Founded in 1967, the Hyundai Motor Company has grown into a global force with a presence in more than 200 countries. Across its locations, more than 120,000 people are employed in various areas of the business. The brand’s priority is its company ethos which is ‘progress for humanity’. This philosophy underlines its commitment to become a leader in smart mobility solutions. With modern technology, this encompasses the use of robotics and advanced air mobility to drive innovation in this sector. Ensuring the longevity of the company, smart mobility now includes a necessity for zero-emission solutions. Hyundai is focusing on battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell technology as alternatives to polluting diesel powertrains.
