Hythe-based Alcaline has reported a set of Michelin X Line Energy tyres have covered more than 340,000km. The international haulier offers distribution services in the UK and into Europe, making fuel efficiency and uptime essential business requirements. Alcaline has a fleet of 178 trucks and 230 trailers which it has equipped with Michelin tyres for the past two decades.
Billy Dell, fleet tyre manager at Alcaline, said: “They’re the best brand of tyre there is. They look good on our trucks and give the image that we’re after, which is a professional fleet that is well maintained. The X Line Energy tyres have delivered great fuel saving benefits as expected and really surprised us in how well they’ve lasted handling high mileage continental work.”
The haulier’s longest-lasting tyres were fitted to a steer-axle. Alcaline offers just in time next day delivery for automotive parts to Belgium, France, Switzerland and Italy, and same day delivery to France, Belgium, Netherlands.
The fleet’s tractor units are paired with 315/60 R22.5 and 295/60 R22.5 Michelin X Line Energy tyres and mega trailer units are fitted with 455/45 R22.5 from the same range. Michelin’s X Line Energy products are designed for long haul trucks, coaches and trailers where the vehicles will predominantly be travelling at high speeds for long periods of time.
The Michelin X Line Energy tyres have low rolling resistance which helps to reduce fuel consumption and total cost of ownership, both of which help to minimise the environmental impact of the vehicle and tyre. Michelin has a multi-life policy for fleet tyres where they are regrooved and retread as Michelin Remix tyres once the tire has reached the end of its first life.
Alcaline also fits some of its vehicles with Michelin X Multi truck tyres which come with an accidental damage guarantee.
