Vehicle recycling company Charles Trent Ltd has taken delivery of three new Renault Trucks D16 4x2. An additional three vehicles are expected to be delivered later this year. The D16s are fitted with Global Cabs and paired with bespoke Belle Trailers’ Belle 3 + 1 car transporters with hydraulic beavertail ramp. The vehicles are also equipped with Nuvech Solutions AirBar systems to protect other drivers and vulnerable road users. The trucks will be put to work on single shifts collecting salvaged and end-of-life vehicles around the UK.
Charles Trent Ltd fleet manager, Laurance Wateridge, said: “In our experience, the Renault trucks have more than proved themselves in terms of performance and reliability and the dealer support we receive from Sparks Commercial Services has been first class, too. Their focus on reducing downtime and keeping our vehicles out on the road has been instrumental in running a productive and successful vehicle recycling fleet and it is a pleasure to work with the team.”
The vehicles were supplied by Rob Coxon, transport solution executive at Sparks Commercial Services. Supported by seven-year ‘excellence’ contracts this covers full repair and maintenance requirements with genuine Renault Trucks parts.
Wateridge said: “The D16 is a perfect fit for our business, it’s a compact vehicle for its size and, with a substantial payload of 6.8-tonne, we’re maximising our efficiency, which is extremely important to our business.”
Inside, the cabs have a heated adjustable driver’s seat, 2kW night heater, adjustable steering wheel, and front and rear air suspension. On the passenger side, the door is fitted with a lower window to aid direct vision of cyclists and other road users next to the vehicle.
Wateridge added: “The drivers appreciate the layout of the cab and the easy-to-reach controls, and the driving assistance systems and automated gearbox help them remain focused on the task in hand. They are the perfect working tool, designed to maximise productivity as well as making our drivers day-to-day work so much easier. We are all delighted with the new vehicles and look forward to welcoming more to our fleet in the future.”
