The commercial vehicle tyre manufacturer Prometeon has revealed its new R02 line as part of its Serie 02 range.

The R02 truck tyre line will be available from October for customers in Europe, Turkey and the UK. Earlier this year the company started production and distribution for Serie 02 tyres for African and Middle Eastern markets.

Designed for regional applications the new product is said to offer the right balance of mileage, durability and sustainability. The R02 line will be offered in sizes 315/70, 315/80 and 295/80.

Prometeon Tyre Group CEO, Roberto Righi, said: “The launch of the Prometeon-branded Serie 02 line marks the beginning of a new phase in the history of our company, and this event represents a crucial milestone on the way to launching our brand. In the coming years, the group will undertake significant investments in both the industrial and commercial areas, with a clear objective: to offer products and services that are increasingly effective in responding to customer needs, according to a fully-fledged ‘business partnership’ approach based on mutual trust and respect.”

Prometeon debuted the Serie 02 line in 2022. The testing programme for the new products included more than 6000 tyres, and over 200 million kilometres to validate the tyres in all weather conditions. Serie 02 tyres built on the Serie 01 line by improving mileage and durability by 15% and sustainability and reliability by 20%.

The latest product launch follows the unveiling of the C02 coach tyre at IAA Transportation last month. This is the first Prometeon tyre to achieve Class A rolling resistance and features up to 80% recycled materials or materials sourced from renewable sources.

The company has recently invested €185 million into its Izmit factory in Turkey to increase production capacity up to 1.85 million tyres annually.
