Hampshire-based manufacturer Dawes Highway Safety Ltd is using its ‘PeoplePanel’ to support the UK’s fight against coronavirus by recreating the government’s message to ‘stay home, protect the NHS and save lives’.
The innovative safety product is an impact-tested flat panel safety system that is widely used in the UK to warn cyclists and pedestrians to take extra care near large vehicles. It is supplied directly to transport companies and manufacturers building new lorries to warn cyclists and pedestrians about the dangers of getting too close to a large vehicle in urban areas. The panels also help stop people being dragged beneath a lorry during a collision where they could suffer serious injury or even death.
Managing director James Dawes said: “Our industry, like others, is facing unprecedented times and it’s crucial that we all follow the message to stay at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Our cycle and pedestrian safety panels are already industry-leading and we have the unique ability to use our existing contacts to put the government’s warning message on the road up and down the country in a very short space of time.
"This will help deter people making unnecessary journeys on the road transport network which spreads coronavirus.
