Since launching its telematics solution in 2020, TIP has now fitted more than 10,000 units to trailers across the UK and Ireland. Alongside offering telematics software, TIP is a trailer and truck rental, leasing and maintenance company. The latest milestone includes units fitted to its hire trailer fleet and operators own trailers.
The system has several useful features including TIP Insight which allows operators to access FleetConnected Reports, detailing a trailer’s journey. The reporting suite has recently been updated to expand the platform’s reporting capabilities. It now includes data such as time spent on the road, route information, time at a standstill and movements within geofenced locations.
Paul Southern, UK network manager of Uniserve, said: “The telematics supplied by TIP has made a measurable difference to the efficiency of our assets, but with the recent theft and immediate recovery of one of our trailers, together with its cargo, it has really shown its worth. Thanks to its live tracking capability, we were able to lead the police straight to the stolen trailer, fully recover its full contents, avoiding multiple insurance claims in the process.”
TIP’s telematics system allows other functionality to be added in a modular way. DoorPlus uses sensors on the rear doors to detect when the doors are open. This system is suitable for box vans and refrigerated trailers.
TyrePlus unlocks trailer tyre pressure monitoring at all times. This improves safety and allows operators to address any tyre issues quickly and efficiently. TIP has also introduced BrakePlus which is an electronic brake performance monitoring system (EBPMS).
Mike Furnival, managing director of TIP for UK & Ireland, said: “We’re really proud of reaching this milestone and it is testament, not only to the solution itself, but to our operations’ teams and, of course, those who have carried out the installations in such volumes. Whilst TIP Insight provides our customers with a great all-round telematics experience, we have no doubt that its EBPMS module, BrakePlus, has been the main driving force behind demand from transport operators.
“With changes to guidance from the DVSA coming into effect early next year, demand for BrakePlus is only expected to increase. We are gearing up for that and we invite transport operators that have not yet explored EBPMS to get involved sooner rather than later in readiness for the changes. Here’s to the next 10,000!”
TIP Group will be exhibiting at Road Transport Expo, which takes place at NAEC Stoneleigh between 4-6 June. Registrations are now open, so book your free place now!
