Royal Mail Group is gearing up for a love-filled weekend, expecting to deliver 250 lorry-loads of Valentine cards.

Some 12 million Valentine's Day cards and letters are expected be delivered by Royal Mail before Monday 14 February. The high volumes are anticipated after a Royal Mail customer survey revealed 64% of respondents considered a card the best way "to speak the language of love".

Royal Mail director of consumer mail Mark Thomson says: "Of the many communication channels available, a card through the post is still the most popular and the best way to make your loved one feel special."
