TruckEast has supplied Bacton Transport with 11 new Scania units, five G-series 6x2 rigids and six R-series 6x2/2 tractors.
The rigids have curtainside bodies by Lawrence David and the R 460s feature Scania’s Super powertrain. Supplied by James Crouch, sales manager at TruckEast, the trucks have sleeper Highline cabs to give drivers more space.
Director Edward Downie, said: “Driver comfort is important to us, some of them are out all week in their trucks, so we pay close attention to the trucks we choose. We know they are big fans of the Scania as they offer a great working environment and over time, we’ve worked closely with TruckEast to adapt the spec of our vehicles, now having a truck that really suits our needs.”
“Reliability is a big factor for haulage businesses, and the Scania proves it’s up to the job. What’s more, our trucks don’t ever spend long in the workshop. But it’s not all about the product. We’ve built a great working relationship with TruckEast over the last 30 years. The team at our local branch is so flexible and the support is just what you want from a supplier. They've always supported us with our trucks, we feel looked after, and what’s more, the location couldn’t be more convenient – it's ideal.”
The trucks are expected to cover 140,000km every year and are on a seven-year repair and maintenance contract which will be taken care of by TruckEast Bury St Edmunds.
Bacton Transport was founded in 1932 and 92 years later, the company has two sites at Woolpit and Nottingham. From its humble beginnings supporting the family farm, Bacton has diversified into contract distribution. Its customers include supermarkets, horticultural retailers, and pallet networks. For the past 30 years the company has included Scania vehicles in its mixed fleet of 70 trucks.
- Scania will be exhibiting at Road Transport Expo, which takes place at NAEC Stoneleigh between 4-6 June. Registrations are now open, so book your free place now!
