This week’s used truck of the week is a 2007-registered Scania R420 6x2 twinsteer tractor.
The truck, listed by Scania dealer Haydock Commercials, is powered by a Euro-4 EGR 12.0-litre engine producing 420hp, has a three-pedal Opti-cruise transmission, tipping gear and Highline cab. The truck has completed more than 595,000km in its five years and it comes with a full Scania service history.
While Scania enjoy a very solid reputation in the used market when it comes to residuals older Euro-4 and Euro-5 trucks, in general, are starting to occupy an increasingly overlooked position in the second hand marketplace.
While these trucks are generally considered to be too old to warrant long term investment they do represent a significant opportunity for operators looking to exercise prudence; two reasons, they’re affordable enough to plug a gap, and meet the current emission legislations for London’s Low Emission Zone.
