Euro-6 engines reduce appeal of 7.5 tonners

Body and trailer manufacturer Cartwright Group says operators are looking at smaller vehicles as alternatives to 7.5-tonners because heavier Euro-6 engines will reduce payloads. Truck manufacturers need SCR and EGR to meet the Euro-6 engine emission standards, which become mandatory on 31 December 2013, and the additional weight will reduce the body/payload potential for 7.5-tonne trucks.
