Last year Mercedes-Benz launched its 2017 Evolution programme of built-to-order approved used trucks that include higher specifications and driver aids.
The first Actros Evolution was metallic red, sold by franchised dealer City West Commercials to Weston-super-Mare-based JJP Heavy Haulage, primarily to transport historic vehicles to and from steam rallies, shows and other events. City West Commercials currently has this 2014 Actros Evolution 2545LS Bigspace - number two in the limited run - available for £59,995 plus VAT.
The 64-plate vehicle includes 12-speed PowerShift 3 automatic gearbox, single bunk, 450-litre alloy fuel tank, lane assist, cruise control, sliding fifth wheel and 285,500km on the clock. There is also a new set of Alcoa Dura-bright wheels, three sets of Kelsa lightbars, blue leather interior with embossed Mercedes-Benz star for the seats, power inverter, microwave, flatscreen TV, fridge, dashcam with blind-spot camera and limited run number.
Tim Sutcliffe, used truck sales specialist at City West Commercials, said: “Mercedes-Benz UK at Wentworth Park took a stock Actros 2545LS Euro-6 vehicle that had been returned at the end of the original lease period, then gave it to the in-house bodyshop. They completely stripped the truck, turned it from white to metallic blue, repainted the chassis in gloss grey and painted the fuel tank, catwalk and exhaust metallic silver.”
Sutcliffe believes it would suit an operator that requires a flagship vehicle or wants to reward a top-performing driver. He added: “This truck is prepared to the highest possible standard by the manufacturer and shows what can be achieved when the bodyshop and sales departments are let loose with a chequebook.
“At City West, we actively look for the more unusual bits of stock. We like sensible mileage, well-looked after trucks usually with a few optional extras that are the bread and butter for the small fleets and owner drivers.”
