I got into the industry…
When I was 21 as an assistant warehouse manager and I progressed to transport and distribution manager. I’ve been in my current role at Fraikin for 15 years and I love what I do.

To encourage more young people into the industry we should…
Work closely with local colleges and apprenticeship schemes to develop more courses for 16- to 18-year olds. This, coupled with better promotion of the varied roles available in this sector, would help people see the many career opportunities available.

For the next 12 months…
I’m quietly confident. Looking ahead, I can see the assets I’m going to be retailing when they come off contract and the pipeline looks strong. Our large customer base means I get access to a diverse range of vehicles and equipment, which normally means I have something to suit everyone.

Will Euro-6 used trucks be popular this year?
Yes. I am sure there will be strong demand for used Euro-6 trucks on the market, but for contract hire fleets where terms tend to be three years and upwards, I would say that it’s still early days for seeing Euro-6 vehicles coming back.
