Blackpool-based Fox Group has placed an order for 70 new tippers, which will be split between Fox Brothers and Leyland-based Hurt Plant Hire, which it acquired in 2020. A further two tipper grabs with 3-way bodies are for JJ O’Grady of Bamber Bridge, a company which Fox Group purchased last August.
The 8x4s, a mix of Scania and Volvos, will all be fitted with Thompsons Loadmaster Lite bodywork.
Commenting on the new trucks, which will be delivered throughout the year, Fox’s group workshop manager Ian Coulton said: “Thompsons bodies are the natural choice for a major fleet order. Their bodies are not only fully proven for their quality, performance and reliability, but Thompsons is also the only tipper bodybuilder that can offer a complete around-the-clock aftersales support service that a company of our size now demands. Thompsons operates on a scale that no other UK tipper bodybuilder can match, and in today’s business environment that’s the level of resource and commitment we really need.”
The Fox Group has also placed an order for a pair of battery-powered Volvo eFE 6x2 tippers, again with Thompsons bodies. Expected to be delivered this spring, they will be used for urban deliveries.
