Developed using Bridgestone’s ENLITEN technology, Firestone has announced a new range of regional truck tyres.
The FS424, FD624 and FT524 are designed for steer, drive and trailer axles and target value for money, long lasting reliable performance and improved fuel efficiency.
Compared to its predecessor, this tyre range provides up to 20 percent improved mileage performance, reducing cost per kilometre figures by around 10 percent. Rolling resistance has also been reduced by up to 15 percent, leading to better fuel efficiency. This tyre line has competitive wet grip labels and 3PMSF marking, making it suitable for all weather conditions. To prolong the life of the tyre, Bridgestone offers truck tyre retreading which can contribute to reducing total cost of ownership.
This is the first time a Firestone regional on-road tyre range has utilised ENLITEN technology. A combination of cutting-edge technologies were employed to achieve improved safety, wear, fuel efficiency, performance and sustainability characteristics. Bridgestone’s compounding mix allows for less materials to be used in the tyre without compromising on these key tyre performance indicators.
The range will be offered in six additional sizes with the first sizes available from September 2023. Remaining sizes will come to market in 2024 with this range replacing the current Firestone Plus line-up.
Waqqas Ahmad, commercial sales director at Bridgestone EMIA, said: “Truck fleets need tyres that combine year-round reliability with a reduced total cost of ownership – especially in today’s climate. Leveraging ENLITEN for the first time, we’ve directly addressed these real-world customer needs to develop a new Firestone truck tyre range that aims to become the best choice in the mid-segment. Available in a wide range of sizes, the FS424, FD624 and FT524 are a landmark range for both the Firestone brand and cost-conscious fleets looking for the smart tyre choice.”
