Southern Van Lines has invested in two new Krone trailers as the events industry continues its post-Covid recovery.
The South London-based firm, which works for some of the biggest names in theatre and music, as well as for festivals, conferences and corporate events, opted for 4m high Dry Liners.
The trailers, which join a 15-strong tractor, 40-trailer and five-rigid truck fleet, will be used on contracts into Europe, moving high-value soundboards. They have been painted by Krone in Jamaican Blue, and have been specified with additional security items like a locking bar across the rear door handles.
Based on Krone’s universal modular chassis, they feature an optimised welded assembly and robust bulkhead connection.
Southern Van Lines director Charles Colley, said: “We have had Krone trailers on the fleet since 2018 and really like them. They are good value and the drivers like using them.
“We paused further fleet investment during covid as obviously events stopped for a long time, so we were engaged in other logistics work. However, the industry has bounced back, including contracts taking us into Europe which is one of our specialisms. We needed some more 4m trailers and Krone was our first port of call. They were able to offer much quicker delivery than some of their competitors, which was important to us as we need these trailers for the busy spring and summer season. They were also competitively priced which always helps.”
Although built in Germany, the semi-trailers were sold by, and will be supported by Krone UK.
Colley added: “Aftersales from Krone UK has been really good, we’ve had no issues. Parts are more readily available than from some other brands, meaning we can more easily get hold of them as required.”
- Krone UK will be exhibiting at this year’s Road Transport Expo, which takes place at Stoneleigh NAEC on June 28-30. It’s FREE to attend, and registrations are now open
