AB Produce has taken delivery of ten Euro-5 Volvo FH500 6x2s Globetrotter XLs, as it increases the size of its fleet.
The Measham, Leicestershire-based firm will use the vehicles to deliver prepared vegetables to food distributors across the UK and were chosen over the new Volvo FH as the slightly smaller grille enables the company to add "logistics division" to the front of its vehicles.
The trucks will be serviced by Volvo Truck and Bus dealership Hartshorne Group in Burton, Staffordshire, which also supplied the vehicles.
AB Produce’s finance director Neil Sharratt said: "We have got to have trucks that are dependable because performance is absolutely key in the food service sector."
He added that the Volvo FH Classic, as it is now called, represnted good business too. “As we have a two year retention policy, clearly the older FH was a bit of value for money for us”
Sharratt said the Volvos will be used "round the clock" to satisfy its commitments to customers.
