Essex-based Abby Couriers has won a £350,000 one-year contract extension with textile print retailer Cath Kidston.
Under the deal, the Basildon-based company will collect goods from Cath Kidston's distribution centre (DC) in Huntingdon, Cambs, and distribute to 22 stores across the UK.
The contract renewal continues an 18-month agreement with Cath Kidston, a group that specialises in 'English country house'-style patterns on items ranging from crockery to mobile phones. The firm also sells its products online.
"Outsourcing our delivery system makes good business sense for Cath Kidston, but only if the firm we are working with is reliable and takes good care of the goods they deliver," says John Knights, logistics manager at Cath Kidston.
Abby Couriers managing director Mark Giles says the firm needed to recruit new drivers to cope with increasing business.
"Since the beginning of September, we have had so many bookings. I think it is to do with internet shopping and the build-up to Christmas," reveals Giles.
The company has recently won the B2B category in the Essex Countywide Business Awards 2009.
