ABN chooses MAN TGAs

ABN, the pig and poultry division of AB Agri, says the good geographical fit between the MAN ERF UK Service Centre Network and its ten feed mill locations played a part in its decision to purchase 11 Euro 4 TGAs. Fleet support manager Ken Hardgrave also cites the avoidance of AdBlue as another reason. The company, which is part of Associated British Foods, has taken delivery of nine TGA 24.440 6x2 midlift "Lite" tractors and two 8x4 bulk blower tippers. It has a further one of each on order.

Alcoa covers up disc brakes

Another story from the Tip-Ex 2007 exhibition at Harrogate last week:One of the biggest problems for tippers on site with disc brakes is discharging loads that fall between the rear bogie, ruining the discs. Alcoa's new aluminium inner Workhorse 22.5x9.00 wheel has no holes around the rim and acts as a cover for disc brakes. The firm's Value For Life recycling programme offers £35 for every damaged, broken or replaced wheel.
