Acumen Logistics Group has bought Auto UK Logistics from its owner Malcolm Daffron.

Based in Coventry, Auto UK Logistics delivers finished vehicles via its fleet of specialist car transporters and delivers export Land Rovers to UK ports.

According to Acumen, Auto UK Logistics had been experiencing a substantial downturn due to the recession. Following the takeover from Acumen, the newly named Acumen Auto Logistics is "well placed to capitalise on an upturn in the economy when market conditions become more favourable".

It is anticipated to turn over circa £1m this year, operating between seven and 10 specialist car transporters.

Chris Doughty, Acumen's MD, says: "Auto UK Logistics is a perfect fit with our sector-focused strategy.

"The five new transporters that we have purchased will provide our customers with improved service reliability and the group with a platform from which we can plan for the company's future growth."
