Builders Merchants AE Spinks has added to its fleet with a Mercedes-Benz Arocs with dropside body and detachable trailer.

The Arocs 3248 eight-wheeler has a ClassicSpace S-cab and is the second truck of its kind to join the fleet with two further examples due to arrive later this year.

Its dropside body is by Truck Hydraulics in Doncaster while the trailer has been made by Micra Truck Bodies, of Wakefield with the chassis supplied by Mercedes dealer Northside Truck & Van.

AE Spinks transport manager Tony Billam said: “Following on from what was a busy 2021, we’re fully expecting 2022 to be even busier and that meant we needed to expand our fleet. The first truck and trailer unit has been a major success, we’ve been able to operate in a more cost-effective manner, making larger deliveries to more sites across a greater distance”

Billam added: “Essentially the vehicle does two jobs in one for us, but with the addition of a second, we will become even more cost effective, which is important to us as a business in these tricky times.”
