AF Blakemore & Son has taken delivery of 10 new Volvo FM 460s, all with three-star Direct Vision Standard (DVS) ratings.

The 6x2 tractors, which will predominantly be used to deliver ambient, fresh and frozen goods for customer Spar, have been specified with glazed passenger doors in addition to numerous cameras.

Commenting on this spec, Dave Higgs, logistics compliance manager at AF Blakemore & Son, says: “We’ve gone for three-star compliant trucks as forward planning on our part because I believe the DVS scheme will be rolled out across more cities sooner rather than later. These vehicles are on seven-year contract hire agreements, so we’re future-proofing our fleet.”

The trucks will be coupled to double deck urban trailers, and are expected to cover roughly 120,000km per annum. They are backed by seven-year Volvo Gold Contracts, with work carried out by Hartshorne Group’s mechanics at the operator’s onsite Vehicle Maintenance Unit.
