Discount supermarket chain Aldi has taken delivery of a specially designed Krone Cool Liner trailer, to be based at its Darlington depot. The trailer has a lifting axle and rear steering, can operate as both a chiller and freezer depending on the needs of the load, and comes with a 10-year anti-corrosion guarantee.
Alex Turner, fleet manager at Aldi, says: "We put a spec sheet together of all the requirements that suit Aldi, and Krone has been able to build us a trailer to fit our needs."
Aldi operates a fleet of more than 330 delivery vehicles with depots and stores across the UK.
A report has revealed that Aldi is benefiting from the credit crunch.
The TNS Worldpanel survey, which studied the value of till-roll sales, says the company has grown its business by 20.7% in the past year and Aldi now has a record 2.9% share of the UK grocery market.
