Lincolnshire bulk tipper firm Alford Traffic Services is expanding its 35-strong mixed fleet, adding four new Euro-5 Premium 450.25s with Optidriver gearboxes following a contract win with Drax power station to haul biomass from the Humber ports to the North Yorkshire power station.

Director Alison Randall says the firm first used Renaults when it bought the assets of a failed Lincoln haulier last year. "We could not have done it at a worse time. But we are turning it around and it's going reasonably well. In the past year, we have relocated our main depot [to another site in Alford], opened two new sites and doubled ourfleet," she says.

"I'm very pleased with the trucks. Fuel consumption is good and they have been reliable so far. The price was attractive too – between £10,000 and £15,000 less than other marques."
