TruckEast has supplied East Dereham, Norfolk-based bulk agricultural haulage specialist W’s Transport with a Scania S650 tractor unit.
The 6x2/2 NA Highline, which features a unique livery to mark the company’s 20th anniversary, features a 16-litre V8 engine. There is also a Kelsa top bar, low bar and perimeter kit as well as air horns and a catwalk, all fitted by Wisbech-based Tranz-Tech.
Its S650, which will clock up about 160,000km per year on a nationwide contract, is serviced and maintained at TruckEast’s Norwich branch on a five-year R&M agreement.
The family-run firm had no Scanias in its fleet until 18 months ago, however, following a driving experience event with TruckEast, which owner Keith Wright (right) and transport manager Helena Wright (left) attended, the company took an R580 V8. It also recently added an S500.
According to W’s Transport it placed the latest order because of the reliable performance of its R-Series vehicle as well as the quality of the TruckEast servicing and sales team at Norwich.
Helena Wright said: “We’d heard the next generation Scania was that much better, but once we’d got behind the wheel in person it didn’t take long to convince us it really was a fantastic truck. The build quality, specification and drive experience were all on another level.
“The extended bed and the overall amount of space are brilliant. Not to mention the comfort levels which are immense. It’s still early days for us, but so far the performance is fantastic - it pulls just as hard empty as it does loaded.”
