McMurrays Haulage of Accrington has marked its 45th anniversary by taking delivery of a top spec Volvo FH 500 Globetrotter XL 6x2 tractor unit from Thomas Hardie Commercials.
The 500hp flagship vehicle, which includes leather upholstery, twin bunk, fridge, and an air-suspended and electrically-operated driver’s seat, is being used for general haulage and The Pallet Network (TPN) duties.
It features artwork commemorating company founder David McMurray, who died from cancer in 1998, and his son Mark, who died of leukaemia in 2007 aged 21.
McMurrays is organising a 20km charity walk from Clitheroe to Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire on 29 May to raise funds for the Young Oncology Unit at The Christie Hospital in Manchester.
Director David McMurray, son of company founder David, said: “We wanted a special truck to mark our 45th anniversary and it seemed right to honour my father and brother at the same time by featuring portraits of them in the cab artwork.
“Because this truck is generally on distance work throughout the UK we really need the reliability that comes from operating Volvo and to back this up we have a Blue R&M contract with Thomas Hardie Commercials in Preston.
“We also specified Alcoa Dura-Bright rims and have had Kelsa low sun visor and top bars fitted.”
