Up to 116 DHL Exel Supply Chain employees in Northamptonshire could face redundancy following a decision by retailer Homebase to consolidate operations.

The DIY retailer will shut its DHL-run international supply depot in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire by the end of August and consolidate operations into its two other DHL-run sites in the region.

A DHL statement says: "The site currently employs 116 staff and the exact number of people affected by the proposal will be determined during the 90-day consultation process.

"DHL is committed to a full and open consultation process with its employees and their elected and union representatives."

The announcement follows a series of recent DHL redundancies in Northamptonshire and Manchester.
