Parcel delivery firm APC Overnight says it is currently experiencing revenue growth of 14% thanks to a boom in business-to-consumer (B2C) parcel volumes.
Ivor Skinner, APC Overnight MD, tells Roadtransport.com: "Our financial year that ended in March was a record year for us and currently we are experiencing growth of 14% which, in the current market, is pretty good.
"The majority of our business used to be business-to-business (B2B), but the growth in B2C has come with an increase in internet sales - it has really impacted our levels. Before, a Thursday used to be the busiest day of the week, now we are seeing a considerable growth in B2C there are peaks on Monday and Tuesday nights."
As for the rest of the financial year, Skinner says he remains "optimistic" despite the potential for tough times ahead: "We made some hard decisions when the recession hit and we did a measured amount of restructuring, from which we are now seeing the benefits."
The growth comes on the back of recent capacity expansion by APC Overnight network partners: Scarlet Couriers consolidated its warehousing and distribution under one roof in a 20,000ft² depot in Wycombe back in May, while in April, Streetwise Couriers moved to a 10,000ft² depot in Warwick at the same time as Acclaim Parcel Express moved to a new depot in Southampton.
Parcel Collection Services in Shewsbury, and Eezehaul in Crawley also moved to larger depots in May.
