MT's International Operator of the Year Archbold Logistics has acquired Midlands-based Direct Pallet Services (DPS) in a multi-million pound deal. The purchase gives the company a presence in the south Midlands, an area it sees as vital to its strategy of expansion, as well as improving its large and small consignment offering.

The deal gives Archbold an extra 52 staff and 30 vehicles and an extensive warehouse operation, as well as a presence in the high-fashion shoe distribution sector. DPS will now trade as Archbold Logistics Nuneaton.

Andy Lindsey, Archbold Logistics business development manager, says DPS fits in with its existing pallet operations within pallet network Palletforce and also provides it with a full and part-load operation as well. The deal was completed last month and Lindsey says that the move is already reaping rewards.

He adds: "We did all the groundwork and decided it was a good business fit and it still is. We are always looking for sensible business development. We are looking for good business fits and expansion of a total logistics solution."

Business development director Xavier Archbold says: "This acquisition is a key part of our business strategy, in terms of expanding our operations, and both reinforcing, and building on, our place in the market."
