Arclid Transport has seen a 16% reduction in its fuel consumption over the past year after its 26 drivers all obtained NVQ Level 2 in Driving Goods Vehicles through training provider TIR Training.

Peter Conway, transport manager at the Cheshire-based haulier, says: "We take our environmental policy very seriously. All our drivers undergo training on how to improve fuel efficiency and they all have their fuel consumption monitored. We've noticed over the past 12 months that fuel figures are significantly better and can only put that down to the NVQs all our drivers have obtained."

By the end of the year, Conway says all of its drivers will have completed NVQ Level 3 in Driving Goods Vehicles and it anticipates further fuel savings next year.
