Hereford-based steel haulier, Arthur Oakley Transport, has taken delivery of four Daf XF 460 6x2 tractor units from Cardiff dealership, Watts Truck & Van.

The XFs, which come with Super Space Cabs, join a flagship XF 510 the firm added to its fleet earlier this year. They pull Euroliner trailers, which the operator orders from Schmitz Cargobull in Germany.

Transport manager Steve Underwood said: “The Dafs can be away from base for three weeks or more without requiring an AdBlue top-up. Our other trucks won’t last a fraction of that time, and we end-up paying a premium for AdBlue on the forecourt.

“Fuel returns are already more than acceptable and we’re seeing averages of 8.5mpg at maximum weight - that’s great for our operation.”
