Asda awards transport partners and its own logistics staff

Supermarket Asda has praised its transport partners at the same time as its distribution employees are set to share part of a £26.9 million bonus pot.

Asda announced yesterday that its 2010 profits were ahead of revenue generated in the same year.

As a result the firm revealed all employees, including distribution employees, will receive an annual bonus this Friday. The £26.9m bonus pot will we be shared across staff at Asda's 386 stores and 19 distribution depots.

This comes less than two weeks after a number of haulage firms were presented with awards at the Asda National Carrier of the Year Awards at the Queens Hotel in Leeds (held on 11 February).

DHL Supply Chain Fuels was handed an environmental award, praised for its continuing strive to cut down fuel usage, while Freshlinc was named primary carrier of the year, noted for "its outstanding Christmas operation".

Meanwhile PD Ports won the container carrier of the year awards, and Ken Mallinson Transport took home the title of secondary carrier of the year award.
