ATS Euromaster has launched a new tyre pressure checking service to help operators reduce fuel bills and cut their carbon footprints.
The head of national truck at ATS Euromaster, Simon Tattersall, says Carbon Cutter is a dedicated tyre pressure and wheel-alignment service. The company has technicians who perform an initial tyre check, adjust pressures and/or wheel alignment, and then return to repeat the process.
"Diesel prices are increasing all the time," he says. "A 2% or 3% saving on a company's fuel bill is a massive amount of money. We realised a simple way to do it was to make sure the tyres had the right amount of air in them and it really was as simple as that."
One customer employing Carbon Cutter is the Killingholme site of DSV Road and Solutions, where ATS Euromaster is assessing more than 100 tractor units on the fleet, which amounts to more than 800 individual tyres.
Keith Northen, fleet manager UK for DSV, says spiralling diesel costs means fuel now accounts for an increasingly significant percentage of its operating costs. "Any steps we can take to improve fuel efficiency not only mean savings to the bottom line, but also reduced CO2 emissions," he says.
