ATS Euromaster and Tructyre are to merge creating a dedicated truck tyre servicing business. Tructyre ATS will cater for vehicles from 3.51 tonnes and above, covering trucks, trailers, buses and coaches, and ATS Euromaster will focus on lighter vehicles’ tyres and maintenance.
Tructyre was purchased by the ATS Euromaster group in October 2017, with the aim now to replicate its success in the south on a national scale. Four new regional divisions will be created – the south-west, Midlands, north and Scotland – which will be managed by their own regional MD.
It is hoped that the transfer of HGV operations to Tructyre ATS will enable ATS Euromaster to focus on demand in the light vehicle sector, which represents approximately half of ATS Euromaster’s business. Additional expansion is expected from the continued growth of the van sector and as uptake of electric vehicles increases.
ATS Euromaster group MD Martin Kellett said: “Our goal is to achieve long-term sustainability and so it makes sense for us to separate the two different sides of our business. By setting ourselves up in this way, our teams will be able to deliver tailored support and the highest standards of dedicated customer service.”
Tructyre founder and CEO Glenn Sherwood explained: “Tructyre ATS is set to become the largest service provider in the UK specialising in the management of tyres for HGV operators. We will also be in the unique position of having the only truly consistent national offering for local, regional and national HGV fleet customers. Our goal is to ensure we provide continuity and consistently high levels of service. We will draw on the expertise of both organisations and use the latest tyre management technology to deliver first-class service and maximum fleet uptime.”
The south-east will be the first region to move to the new structure, followed by the south-west, with the changes expected to be complete by early 2019. In future, mixed vehicle fleets will be reviewed on an individual basis, and businesses operating predominantly light vehicles will likely remain as an ATS Euromaster customer, with any HGV work contracted to Tructyre ATS; HGV fleets are likely to transfer to Tructyre ATS, while national fleet customers will continue to be managed by ATS Euromaster until all Tructyre ATS regions are up and running.
