Axa Assistance, part of the Worldwide Axa Group, is using Mercedes-Benz vans as part of its new roadside repair and recovery service for motorists - rescue24.

It has purchased six vehicles in total, three 3.5-tonne Sprinter 315CDI long-wheelbase high-roof panel vans for operation around the M25, and three 2.9-tonne Vito 111CDIs to be based in Dublin.

Rob Carter, network services manager at Axa Assistance, says: "The Sprinter is the best platform for a roadside repair vehicle, but we chose the smaller Vito for our Irish operation because we needed a more nimble van to negotiate the streets of Dublin."

The vans are supplied by Crawley dealer Rossetts Commercials on five-year Service Package Plus deals.
