Basildon Timber has put into operation a 10-tonne Renault Range D as a replacement for an 06-plate 7.5-tonne Midlum.

The truck is powered by a 210hp Euro-6 engine and has been supplied by Renault Trucks Essex with a aluminium flatbed body and a manual gearbox.

The timber merchant will use the truck to make deliveries to trade and domestic customers across Essex and London.

MD John Cordery said the firm decided to go for Euro-6 as it was incurring charges inside London’s Low Emission Zone when using its Midlum.

He said: “We decided to stay with Renault Trucks and go up to 10 tonnes with the Range D, which gives us more payload with all the manoeuvrability and accessibility of the 7.5 tonner.  It has only been on the road a few weeks, but so far it’s running fantastic.”
