Waste management group Biffa has taken delivery of 1,400 Tiss anti-siphoning devices to lower fuel bills and reduce the risk of diesel spills.

The Blackpool-based waste collection and disposal group has had 600 standard and 800 Tanksafe 'Impregnable' fuel security devices fitted to its mixed fleet, which comprises Volvos, Ivecos, Mercedes and DAFs.

According to Tiss, the £185 'Impregnable' device can cut fuel bills by 6% and help prevent diesel spills. Biffa general fleet manager David Wilson says: "We are really sensitive to climate change and we are doing our best to mitigate the impact that our fleet has on the environment."
