North Yorkshire’s Black Sheep Brewery has taken delivery of three Volvos – the first of the marque to join its eight-strong fleet.

Two 500hp FH 6x2 44-tonners are joined by a  420hp 18-tonne FL 4x2. They were sourced from Crossroads Truck and Bus at Boroughbridge.

The FH units will handle primary distribution duties to wholesalers’ and retailers’ DCs, while the FL will be double-manned and will make deliveries to pubs.

All are on Volvo repair and maintenance contracts, which will see the trucks being dropped off at the dealership for scheduled O-licence inspections at 6pm, ready for collection by 6am the following morning.

Crossroads will also be carrying out trailer main-tenance for Black Sheep Brewery. Its trailer fleet includes a Lawrence David chilled curtainsider that doubles up as a mobile bar for use at outdoor shows.

Ian Middleton, group sales director of Crossroads Truck and Bus, said: "Crossroads are absolutely delighted to have secured this piece of business and to be associated with such a strong Yorkshire brand as Black Sheep Brewery."
