The founder of West Midlands-based CV bodybuilder LinkTip, has revealed his pain at seeing the business go into liquidation.

Creditors at the Willenhall firm petitioned for the 31-year-old company to go into liquidation on 21 December 2009; Paul Anthony Saxton, of Elwell Watchorn & Saxton LLP, was subsequently appointed liquidator.

The company had specialised in manufacturing vehicles for the recycling sector, but had seen a decline in demand over the last few years.

Roger Fleetwood, the firm's founder, says: "It was particularly painful for me to see the business I started more than 30 years ago fall victim to the economic recession brought about by the banks, and the inevitable consequences for some suppliers and staff."

He continues: "During an uncertain December, I am particularly proud of the fact that customers were not affected in any way; with every sales commitment honoured and the spares and repairs arm of the business continuing to provide an excellent service."

Approximately 10 redundancies were made and the remaining staff have been employed by LinkTip's sister company, The LinkTip Kerbside Group, which offers service and repair of equipment, as well as some bodybuilding.
