Boughey Distribution increases profit

Grocery warehousing and distribution company Boughey Distribution has increased pre-tax profit nearly five-fold. Pre-tax profit hit £1.40m in the year to May 31, 2006, soaring from £238,000 in 2005. Operating profit also climbed, to £1.54m in 2006 from £346,000 in 2005. Turnover growth over the financial year was worth 21%, from £23.0m in 2005 to £27.8m in 2006.

The directors of the NWF Group-owned company report that Boughey has had "a complete year of profitable use" from its three sites in Wardle, Winsford and Deeside. Earlier this year, Boughey added a depot in Purfleet, Essex to its operating bases. Directors' pay was up by £10,000 to £199,000 in 2006, while total staff costs increased to £12.4m, up from £10.5m in 2005. An interim dividend of £600,000 was paid during the 2006 financial year, up from £200,000 in 2005, with no further dividends recommended.
