Kent-based Brakes Group has won a seven-year transport contract with Mitchells & Butlers, worth over £200m.

The contract renewal will see Brakes use its multi-temperature fleet to deliver food products to 1,600 Mitchells & Butlers pubs and restaurants, until at least 2017.

As part of the deal, Brakes says it will improve truck utilisation further and reduce the number of deliveries it makes.

Adam Fowle, chief executive at Mitchells & Butlers, says: "This long-term contract with Brakes delivers significant and immediate cost savings to M&B while maintaining a very high quality and reliable service into the business."

Earlier this month Brakes won a seven-year transport deal with catering firm Compass Group.
