Foodservice firm Brakes has won a seven-year distribution deal with catering giant Compass Group.
The contract renewal, beginning in 2012, comprises delivering £300m worth of goods to 5,500 UK sites. Ashford, Kent-based Brakes will use its multi-temperature HGV fleet to consolidate products and try and improve truck utilisation as part of the deal.
Ian Sarson, MD at Compass UK, says: "The deal will enable us to further reduce our environmental footprint, and will ensure we are able to continue serving products of the highest quality and freshness to our customers."
