Wales and West Truck and Bus has supplied Somerset-based Briarwood Products with two new Volvo FH-540 Globetrotter tractor units.
The 3,000mm wheelbase tag-axle vehicles are fitted with D13K engines producing 540hp as well as I-Shift dual-clutch, automated transmission systems. The medium height, all-air suspended chassis also feature higher fixing heights for their Jost JSK37 fifth wheels.
The trucks, which feature Alcoa Dura-Bright Evo alloy wheels, have additional light bars and associated wiring from AD Auto Electrical, as well as liveries from Complete Wrap UK.
They come with 36-month Volvo Gold service contracts out of the dealer’s new branch in Bridgwater. The two latest arrivals follow the company’s two-week demonstration period with an FH-500 model.
They are the first Volvo trucks Briarwood Products has put into service for 25 years and will be used exclusively on own-account operation for the company, which specialises in the supply of fibre cement profiled sheets and accessories.
Oly Janes, director at Briarwood Products, said: "Our previous experience of Volvo trucks stretches back to the early F86 and F88 models.
“We also ran one of the first drawbar specification, F10 rigids with hub reduction axles. We have high hopes for the new FH-540 tractor units.”
