Bridgestone’s truck fleet service network improved its average reponse time to commercial vehicle breakdowns by two minutes in 2016.
According to end-of-year roadside assistance data released by Bridgestone’s Partner network, the 49 minute figure compared with 2015's 47 minutes.
It added that each vehicle it responded to was up-and-running in an average of less than two hours from the first call for assistance.
A total of 35,000 jobs were accepted in 2016.
Bridgestone ‘s partner network consists of more than 315 commercial tyre dealerships across the UK and 1,000 vans.
About 40,000 commercial vehicles were worked on by the network in 2016, with 250,000 tyres being managed overall, compared with 207,000 in 2015.
Paul Sheehan, national operations manager, said: “Any roadside breakdown is an unwanted headache for a fleet.
"Knowing that we can get them back up and running again so quickly will be viewed as a major positive amongst operators.
“When we talk to our fleets, they cite vehicle uptime as one of their most important factors, so every minute we can save results in improved operational costs for our customer.”
