Another story from the Tip-Ex 2007 exhibition at Harrogate last week:

The heavier kerb weight of Euro-4 trucks has led Brit-Tipp to reduce the weight of its products. It supplies off-the-shelf tipper/drop-body combinations for Iveco 7.5-tonne chassis cabs. Moving from steel to aluminium panels and tailgate has helped turn a 3,260kg payload at Euro-3 to 3,300kg at Euro-4. The system has a bolted galvanised subframe and steel floor. Next to it was a product manufactured with the help of the company's new turret punch machine. The aluminium tipper chassis with a 600mm-high toolbox, mounted onto a 3.5-tonne Ford Transit single cab, offers a 1,040kg payload.

Alcoa covers up disc brakes

Another story from the Tip-Ex 2007 exhibition at Harrogate last week:One of the biggest problems for tippers on site with disc brakes is discharging loads that fall between the rear bogie, ruining the discs. Alcoa's new aluminium inner Workhorse 22.5x9.00 wheel has no holes around the rim and acts as a cover for disc brakes. The firm's Value For Life recycling programme offers £35 for every damaged, broken or replaced wheel.

Aliweld branches out

Another story from the Tip-Ex 2007 exhibition at Harrogate last week:Aliweld's lightweight aluminium tipper features a 76mm step-frame that works up into the body over the fifth wheel and allows a low ride height. Angled ribs improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. It runs on an SDC chassis, has a 65yd3 capacity, and weighs in at 6,005kg.

PM Onboard’s BulkWeigh

Another story from the Tip-Ex 2007 exhibition at Harrogate last week: Several trucks at Harrogate were fitted with PM Onboard's latest PM1155 BulkWeigh. The system includes tipping stability and axle loading as standard and audibly warns if any axle is exceeding plated weights or if the load is unevenly distributed.
