Britcom is expanding its Market Weighton site in East Yorkshire with a new six bay workshop.

The steel framework for the new purpose-built facility has already been erected, with work for the project beginning back in January, however, the project was put on hold due to the Covid-19 lockdown with the site not re-opening for construction until 11 May when work on erecting the steel framework began.

The finished structure, which is part of an investment of more than £1m, will see Britcom’s workshop capacity rise to 20 bays and will incorporate a 10-tonne overhead crane, as well as an ATF-approved inspection pit and brake roller.

Joint MD, Chris Urwin, said: “Britcom has always taken a long-term view of the business climate and whilst the current pandemic will certainly bring challenging times, we firmly believe in the opportunities we have to grow the chassis engineering and truck bodybuilding operation.”

Work on the site is set to be completed by August 2020.
